Roswell offers unique educational opportunities, both for those seeking specialized fields and for taking the leadership positions in tomorrow’s world.

Public school testing in the Roswell Independent School District results indicate that Roswell students exceed state and national norms.RISD is one of the largest school districts in Southeastern New Mexico, serving a student population of over 9,300 students, with 12 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, and 3 high schools.

Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell is a dynamic, academic and career oriented university. ENMU-Roswell offers more than 70 certificates and associate degrees in a variety of academic and career oriented programs. ENMU-Roswell students take online classes, pursue advanced degrees, and receive personal attention from instructors using the latest in education technology. Selected bachelor’s and master’s level courses are also available through the main campus in Portales. A customized training program (Center for Workforce and Community Development) is available for business and industry. Each semester, ENMU-Roswell enrolls more than 4,000 students in credit bearing courses. Hundreds more are served through a variety of non-credit classes and numerous community partnerships. A full range of career advising services are available, in addition to a unique program for students with disabilities. More than 100 courses are taught online each semester and ENMU-Roswell also offers an accredited online general education transfer degree, the Associate of Arts degree in University Studies.
    Classes are taught by more than 60 full-time instructors and more than 200 adjunct instructors. Some of the programs available include Aviation Maintenance Technology, Emergency Medical Services, Criminal Justice, Dental Assisting, Computer Application Systems, Nursing, Media Arts, Respiratory Therapy, and Engineering ahd Design Technology.

For those seeking a more structured education that develops critical thinking skills, strength for character and integrity, the New Mexico Military Institute is one of six military junior colleges in the nation, and is also a four year college preparatory, state supported and coeducational high school. All students live on the 40 acre campus and attend classes in the impressive military Gothic buildings. The New Mexico Military Institute was founded in 1891 as a private military school, and was taken over by the Territorial Legislature in 1893. The campus includes marching fields, excellent sporting facilities, modern classrooms, a large auditorium that also functions for community and cultural programs, a beautiful chapel, a library and a museum.
